Saint Laurent vs Alexander McQueen: Skulls, Their Death-Themed Accessories

Skulls and skeletons have been the theme for some collection, not only womenswear, but also menswear. Big brands like Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, and Saint Laurent also released their collections of skulls and skeletons. But unlike the others, Alexander McQueen has their own story behind their skulls and skeletons. Lee, the designer himself was obsessed with death.

It is important to look at death because it is a part of life. It is a sad thing, melancholic but romantic at the same time. It is the end of a cycle—everything had to end. The cycle of life is positive because it gives room for new things.
From that quote, everybody started thinking that Lee was obsessed with death. Not to mention his exhibition that was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2011 was an artistic death-themed exhibition. You could also find a portrait of Lee that was over-shadowed with a skull image.
In their collections, Alexander McQueen also brought the same theme in a form of rings and necklaces. See their collections below:

Saint Laurent recently released its collection for menswear. It's a skull necklace. It looks luxurious because it was made from silver and it is combined with leather strand. We have no idea the exact reason why SL released these collections but in a small portion or not, they look like they were inspired by McQ. See them below:
